Having spoken to a potential user of ArborCAD we have realised ArborCAD will enable Arborists to deploy the Burnley Method of financial valuation of trees with greater accuracy and ease – regardless of shape. ArborCAD will enable accurate area calculations that convert easily to the conical calculation process the Burnley Method uses.

The formula calculates the volume of a tree as a cone, and multiplies out that cubic measure with a base price per cubic metre from nurseries. A reduction in the value of the tree is made to compensate for expected life span, condition and location.

The methodology avoids the subjective concerns of historical, amenity, habitat value etc but offers a simple fast solution to tree valuation which has been tested in Australian Courts.

When documenting the valuation you will be able to accurately show the true shape of the specimen rather than use only a basic circular cone to describe the crown. ArborCAD will also allow you to make the graphic representation of the tree and your calculations far more professional and easier to understand by the lay person, especially in court.

We understand there is an online calculator for the Revised Burnley Method of Tree Valuation written by Eric Frei Dip Arb and Hort
